Getting your SIA licence: how to prepare for the exams
To work in many security roles in the UK, you need a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Before you can apply, you complete an approved training qualification for your role and pass its exams. Check the SIA website for the current requirements for your licence type.
How to prepare
- Know the topics: the exams follow the units of your qualification. Use them as your study plan.
- Practise questions: answering questions helps you remember the content and shows you where the gaps are.
- Read every option: in multiple-choice questions, two answers can look similar. Read all options before you choose.
Tip: Go back to the questions you got wrong a few days later, not straight away.
